Yarn Count Test
In textile engineering purposes we need more calculations and, today I hope to describe such details by giving suitable examples.
Yarn count Test
In yarn count test we must know about linear density and it means how many grams available in unit length of yarn. it is known as linear density of yarn and it can be taken from following formula.
Linear Density = Mass in gram/ Unit length in meter
Now I hope to describe Tex, Decitex, Denier and cotton count values. Here tex, decitex, denier are belonging to direct yarn count and cotton count is belonging to indirect yarn count.
Yarn Count in Tex: How many grams in 1000 m is known as tex. And here,
Tex value = (Yarn weight in yarn/ Yarn length) * 1000
Yarn count in Decitex: How many grams in 10000 m is known as decitex.
Decitex value = (Yarn weight in yarn/ Yarn length) * 10000
Yarn count in Denier: How many grams in 9000 m is known as denier.
Now we look common equation for those units as below,
1Tex = 10 Decitex = 9 Denier
For an example we can get 0.0062g in 20.3cm length and we can find such values,
Tex = (0.0082g/ 0.203 m) * 1000
= 40.3941 tex
Now we know tex value hence,
1tex = 10 decitex = 9 denier
40.3941 *1 = 40.3941 * 10 = 40.3941 * 9
40.39 Tex = 403.941 Decitex = 363.5469 Denier
Now we we can find cotton count (Ne) value by using following equation,
Tex * Ne = 590.5
So, we can get for previous question by applying numerical values into this formula,
40.39 tex * Ne = 590.5
= 590.5/ 40.39
= 14.620 Ne
How find yarn count test for Fabric ?
It is simple and, in this test you can get 20 cm * 20 cm fabric specimen and remove five yarns by each warp and weft direction of woven fabric and uncrimp each removed yarns by using crimp tester and read uncrimped length and get weight of each individual yarns and average length and weight of weft and warp yarns. Finally you can find tex values for fabric using averaged value.
